Is the name Beavis trademarked from Beavis and -head?

The reason I want to know is because I want to name a character Beavis in a certain video game, and the company does not want anyone using character names that are trademarked. When I look at titles "Beavis and -head" I only see a small (tm) mark above -head. I am not really familiar with trademark and licensing legalities so... i need to know.
