Need help deciding Galveston or Port Aransas???

My family and are planning a trip to the beach. Every year we go to Port A. This year I wanted to go to Galveston (never been) because a ccording to the internet there is more to do there(sights and attractions). There is nothing to do at Port A. but the gift shops. I am getting a lot of feed back that Galveston is not a good place to go(well the beach). Here is a list of my itenerary- Stewart Beach, Colonel paddlewheel boat,Rainforest Cafe,Moody Gardens -Juric adventure, Moody Gardens "beach"(not sure what that is). There is nothing like this in Port A. we'll have to go to Corpus C. to find something to do but like I said been there year after year we have pretty much seen everything. So now it's decision time... Same old routine(port a.) or try something new but may be disappointed(galveston). Can anybody help me decide???
